A reliable path to carbon reduction
ExxonMobil™ Low Carbon Ammonia is an advantaged carbon reduction solution that leverages their integrated value chain, starting with lower-emission natural gas from the Permian Basin. They can then capture and sequester CO₂ associated with ammonia production, further helping customers meet their specific emission goals. Their value chain integration allows ExxonMobil to manage emissions across the production process, delivering a lower carbon intensity solution.
They offer comprehensive technical analysis and economic insights to help customers frame their projects (including risk-benefit analysis, incentive qualification, regulation navigation, and CI calculations) and progress toward their emission-reduction goals.
Increasing capabilities to decrease emissions
In Baytown, Texas, ExxonMobil is testing technologies to help derisk future low-carbon projects for their customers. They are actively collaborating with third parties to develop these solutions, including working with companies like SK Inc. Materials of Korea to advance their planned low-carbon ammonia project in Baytown.
When completed, ExxonMobil’s Baytown facility is expected to be the world’s largest producer of low-carbon hydrogen and will offer customers low-carbon ammonia offtake options.
With demand for ammonia expected to increase two- to three-fold by 2050—according to various IEA development scenarios—ExxonMobil’s Baytown low-carbon intensity ammonia project, which captures and sequesters CO₂ associated with production, is well positioned to reliably and safely supply the growing market.
